who will tell my candidate they're not a fit?

Candidate Rejection Process

As a recruiter, creating a great candidate experience is not only is best practice but essential to helping them get a job. When you've developed a relationship with your candidate, it's important that you are regularly communicating with them about their progress or lack of in the hiring process for any roles so they know exactly what's going on. Lack of communication can lead to candidates becoming unresponsive and "ghosting" both Relode and our clients and cause them to lose trust in both you and the opportunity you've referred them for. Who will be responsible for telling the candidate they've been declined for a position?

  • If your candidate is a brand new referral to a position but has not gotten past the "review" stage in your dashboard (which means they have not been sent to the Relode Account Manager or client for consideration), then it will be your responsibility to let them know they were not a fit for the role. At this stage, while they do have a Relode Talent Advisor assigned to manage their profile, they have not been moved far enough along the process for their relationship to be the same with the candidate as yours. It's important to always tell a candidate when they didn't get a job, and proactively check for other roles they might be a great fit for!
  • If your candidate has been moved into the "consideration" stage in your dashboard (meaning they have been submitted to the hiring client and you've earned your first reward), and is declined at any point from here onward, the Relode Talent Advisor managing their profile will inform the candidate they aren't a fit. It's always a great idea to follow up with the candidate yourself, since your relationship is what helps build trust for them if they are declined to discuss new job opportunities, or just to help them understand what might have been missing to make them right for the role.
